card from me,email me with your address and I'll
send one out.
You know you live in a small town when: A radio ad
for a local business addresses a RUMOUR on air!
I've been having the strangest dreams about my
family lately. They must be using the voodoo dolls
on me again or something...
I think I'm losing my edge. It's been brought to my
attention twice now, that the Lael I portray outside is not
the same as the Lael inside...the last time this happened
I got my tongue pierced to remedy the problem.
What should I do next??? I'm open to suggestions!
Too much chamomile tea at night can ALMOST make a person
pee their bed..almost.
It's been an entire month since I enjoyed cheese and I'm
doing pretty good. I'm not craving it nearly as bad as I was when
I wrote THIS post. I like cheese...
I get after my husband about his smoking habit
but secretly, when he kisses me and I smell it on him
it turns me on. Reminds me of the good old days...
My stupid (but cute) cat scratched my new monitor
when he flew into the other week. Yesterday he knock-ed
over a cup of coffee and this morning he attacked me when
I was sleeping. Want a cat!?

Guess What??
Excuse me for a moment:
"wheeeeeeeeeeheeeheehoooohooohooohaahaahaa
YAY Christmas!!!"
Speaking of Christmas, this weekend we drove
North to a bigger city and made good use out
of their big(er) mall. I found the shoes I wanted
to get Hubs (he's going to be SUPER surprised
because I'd told him I wasn't able to get then in
Canada) and a couple of really cute outfits for
Jig and, some boring stuff the boychild wanted
(teenaged boys are impossible to buy for). It was
a great day out. Snow had fallen a wee bit South
of the city,so we got to enjoy a bright sunny day
with the light and white just gleaming against
the blue, blue sky...on the way home the ride
was just as spectactular, with the sun going
down casting shadows in interesting ways and
the sky lit up with stars and a huge full moon.
A glorious day,all around!
I had my CT scan yesterday and my Doc should
have the results by Friday. I'm guessing she's
going to send them to a neurologist and we'll
take it from there. I had to take my tongue
piercing out for the scan and then Dur and I
spent 10 min out in the car trying to get it back
in! I got the bar in fine(it's kinda neat having a
HOLE in your tongue) we just had problems with
the screwball(hah) but after much screwing around
(ha) we finally got the whole thing conected again
and I'm hip and cool once again...hee hee.
So because of all my brain woes I've been doing a lot
of research and reading on stroke.
Do you know: Anyone of ANY age can have a stroke?
Obviously as you age you're more at risk BUT that
doesn't mean it can't happen! The doctor in the book
I'm reading said he's seen 500 patients UNDER 40
who've had strokes. Even babies are at risk.
So if you're having weird symptoms like I was(and still
AM) but think you're too young...???..you're not and should
go see your doctor. A lot of people brush off very serious warning
signs(like I did) and suffer the consequences. Don't feel bad
or stupid though, the lady in the book I'm reading is a nurse
and even she iggnored the signs.
The book by the way is excellent. Easy to read, interesting and
informative.
Striking Back At Stroke. A Doctor-Patient Journal
by Cleo Hutton and Louis R Caplan M.D.
I'm recognizing further some of her symptoms as
some of the wonky things that I've experienced.
I'm NOT imagining it and while I always knew that
it makes me feel relieved to know that somebody
has experienced the same thing.
I'm not crazy..woohoo!
It's kind of scary too though BUT I look at it this
way..I'm going to die of something sooner or
later,that I can't change so why worry about it,right?
We had a snowfall last night. Nothing major piled
up but it's pretty and white out there all the same.
I'm pretty sure this stuff is going to stick. We're not
getting above zero for awhile now. I'd take photos
for ya but my camera is on the fritz..boooo to that!
Alrighty better run,I'm making oatmeal with blue
berries, apples and walnuts for the kids and I...

An injury
and it hurts like nothing else.
Sitting here is even painful,heeelp!
I'm not sure what I did..I tried out
a new ab exercise that requires one
to press their spine into the carpet
while lifting one's legs...but the pain
didn't start until two days after, when
I'd wrapped presents on a low table.
May be both things contributed to
the wrench..I don't know. I do know
that I would loooove to pop a couple
of muscle relaxants and go sleep but
that's not going to happen. May be I'll
take a T3 later this afternoon..they make
me loopy though. I have a very low tolerance
for pain meds and can't be getting all weird
when I'm the only adult around!
Speaking of injuries,I've got my appointment
for my CT scan,on Monday! That was sure quick!
I go early in the morning and if my hubby is off work
that morning,we get to have a breakfast date:) I'm so curious
to find out what's going on inside my noggin. I hope the
doctor I get in to see(whenever that is) lets me look at the
scans..I think that'd be neat..
And while we're on the subject of the brain, I thought I'd
share this cool site with you! Lumosity-Brain Games
They have a series of games designed to train your brain
and keep it running at it's full potential. I'm taking their
free trial and intend to buy a membership once that's done
because, the exercises are really helping! Check it out..

Tagged!
too and is an amazing artist. Faye is also an upbeat
positive person and I betcha if you click on her name
and visit her blog, your day will be that much brighter!
There are a few rules one must follow to play the game.
When tagged, you must link to the person who tagged you.
Then post the rules before your list, and list eight random
things about yourself. At the end of the post, you must tag
and link to eight other people.
1. I like a cool house and my thermostat is set
pretty low compared to most people. We're at
65 right now..and I'm sweating. Time to turn it
down!
2. I like getting older. I won't lie and tell you I like
the new wrinkles, haha but, getting older isn't is
bad as you think it's going to be when you're in your
20's. I'm getting smarter,kinder,more patient..more
confident and sure. I'll trade a few wrinkles for those
wonderful things ANY day.
3. I haven't had a bath in over 3 months.
My bathtub is too small to be enjoyable so I'm
not going to even try. I love baths so much so I
think the disappointment would be too much to bear
BUT when we buy our own place I'm going to make
that bathroom into my dreeeeam bathroom so it will
be well worth the wait.
4. Ever since I got my new computer I've been chomping
at the bit to try out the new 4in1 printer that it came with.
One problem. I needed a printer cable-mine didn't come
with one-(??). I tried the cable from my old printer in a
outlet on the front of the machine but it didn't fit so I
added a printer cable to the long list of Stuff Lael Needs
and left it at that. Well yesterday it occured to me that
perhaps there was another outlet on the printer...I had
the kid look...and yes there was! I'm a dork!
Watch for a ton of scanned photos from my early years
to come to this blog soon!
5. I've been trying to eat less meat for both humane
and health reasons.
6. I have an artist trapped inside me but I lack the
skill and concentration to create what is in my head.
Working on that though!
7. I'm saving up to buy myself a groovy pair of winter
books. They are suede(hypocrite!!) and fleece lined, with
staps and buckles that run on the diagonal across the body
of the boot. They have good sturdy sole and come in three
colours-black,dark brown and tan. Now common sense
dictates that I choose the black pair but I'm going to be
a rebel and choose the colour I like, the tan. I should be
able to buy them next week. YAY!
8. Devon's grade nine math book hurts my head!
I'm going to tag:
Kamrin
Mackey
Poody
Carolyn
Bernie if he gets a chance to read this.
He's a long haul driver I met through my kid,of all people.
Casdok
Cheryl
Mike
Now I'm off to start my day. The ice fog has burned off
and the sun is shining, calling me outside to play;)

I must be a bit of a masochist
On a whim I went to my local SPCA shelter and found these sweeties:
Guess which one I want?? Yep,the black and tan Beans look-alike!
Further down the page I found an Annie look-alike:
Spooky isn't it? If it wasn't for the white on this one's tummy,I'd swear it was her. Of course I'd march my butt up to the shelter and break her out of jail if it was. Our shelter works really hard to find homes for all the pets that come through their doors. If you are in the market for a pet,try your local shelter. My beloved Beans(who was the best dog EVER) was a shelter dog...
After I found the above doggie I went over to Hugabull.com and found this sweet young thing:

Here's what the folks over there had to say about her!
"COMING SOON...BUTTERCUP!
Meet Buttercup, whose personality is as rich and warm as her name suggests. Buttercup is the mother of the litter of pups we also have up for adoption. She is approximately a year old and so far just a dreamy pittie girl. She walks nicely on leash, is non-destructive in the house and car, very responsive and smart, and food motivated which will be great for further training. She is very calm in the house and car, but full of pep and energy when she gets outside, as is typical of most pit bulls. She is as sweet, wiggly and friendly as they come, happily greeting strangers and friends alike at the door as though they've come especially to see her. Well, didn't they?!
Buttercup has not yet been fully tested with other dogs, but has gone on walks with another dominant female and shown no interest or reaction. She has never been protective of her pups, either with people or the dogs at the shelter that she was pulled from, and has never reacted to other dogs barking and lunging at her. She will complete her evaluation period in the next 2 weeks and we will have a better idea of her level, if any, of dog reactivity/aggression. We will also be testing her with cats. "
She sounds wonderful, doesn't she? The folks at
Hugabull do wonderful, amazing work. Go check them out. They have a lot of intelligent breed information. They work so hard to dispell all the myths about pit bulls and educate people about being good owners.
Alas, I must wait a bit to get my next doggie (0nly about a year and a half, woot!) but when I do you can be sure I'm getting one dog from my local shelter and one from Hugabull. I'm going to have a FULL house and I can't wait!

Well I'll be..
we were approached by a woman warning us to
be careful where we walked because there's a man freaking
out near a certain establishment and it may be dangerous
to walk by before the cops get there. (Some drunk swinging
his fists)
We stopped to watch the action and I recognized the woman
as the same chick who was so nasty to C just a short while
ago. You may remember me venting about the woman who
accused C of letting her dog out on purpose when in fact it
was Ciari who noticed the dog was out and took it upon herself
to help, only to get screamed at and accused of wrong doing.
Greeeeat,I'm thinking to myself as we stand there but all
of a sudden the woman says "I need to apologize to you"
and then goes on to tell us she was wrong and that she now
realizes that Jig was only trying to help. She was SO sincere
and regretful, that of course Ciari and I forgave her.
She went on to say that she had been dogsitting and
was stressed out from that as well as the kids
in her daycare, which I can understand. We're all human.
I thought it was so nice and respectful(not to mention
brave and humble) of her to apologize to us like that and,
it felt really wonderful to be able to say "It's ok" and mean
it honestly. Will wonders ever cease, huh?
Kay(the reason for the dogwalking) is now home from the
hospital! She was her usual self, inviting the kid in to visit
and seems to be doing amazingly well! One problem
though:She can't sleep in her WATERBED until her hip
heals properly.Hee Hee, an 83 year old with a water bed.
I LOVE it!
I don't know why I was surprised. She's not exactly your
typical grandma type. She swears like a sailor in front of
Ciari (calls her hubby an asshole when he teases her about
going to get a young blonde, teehee) and talks to Jig about
some pretty adult things. We love her for that, for some
strange reason. I think I admire her honesty mostly...
She's so funny and is like a grandparent to my kid so I'm extra
glad she's doing good.
Today we're going to meet my other kid's teacher. It's report
card time! We've got to lug all his work with us and she'll look
it over and then grade him as she sees fit. We get to do this
three times this year and this is our first time so far.
I'm sure I have nothing to worry about though.
She's an amazing person, never mind teacher and I know all will
go well. When we're done with her,I've got to pick up some stuff
for the girl child and myself. We're locking ourselves in my room
for a girls night. We're gonna paint out nails and toes, read magazines,
listen to music, eat treats. All that fun stuff!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Photos and News
me to the hospital here for the CT scan.
Wooohoo! I was happy about that!
I won't get in til January BUT it'd be
earlier than if I had to go down there
and it won't cost as much. Bus fare maybe
and that's only a buck! I'm hoping she'll
have the results sent to a doctor here too...
that would save us again. We're finding it
just TOO busy down in the big city. Any time
I can avoid going down there,I will:)
So anyways,I'm happy about that!
Here are some photos I've taken recently...
Junk Guy art in Likely, which is a small town/hamlet/community
northeast of us. They are in the Cariboo Mountains so they
get Winter weather earlier than the rest of us. This was taken
3 weeks ago.

Hidey Ho Bloggerinos!
Nothing too,too exciting. Just a
trip to the Coast, where I went
to the doctor(finally!) and got
to spend time with the outlaws
and two friends I haven't seen
in awhile. The first friend meetup
went awesome! We picked up right
where we left off and everything was
easy and comfortable. This friend really
calms and centres me..it's the weirdest
coolest thing!
The other meetup was not bad it just wasn't
what I'd hoped for.
I felt like I was being scrutinized and while this
person was perfectly pleasant, she came off totally
fake and insincere. Got a free lunch out of the deal
so it wasn't a total loss, hee.
I told my doctor about that weird stroke episode
I had ages back and she's sending me for a CT scan.
She said even if the scan shows I didn't have a stroke,
she's going to further investigate with an EEG..
(ENG..ECG..EKG??I don't know,can't remember,lol)
because SOMETHING'S not right. I can't WAIT for
the results because I'm sure I had a stroke
and want to be #1. proven right(heh) #2.
Started on some sort of medication or treatment
program and then I can stop worrying about dying
or getting drain bramage, all the time. It's the not
being treated that freaks me out the most.
I'm not worried about possibly having a condition that
makes me have strokes though. I've been expecting this since
I was a kid because, my dad has strokes and it's always
been a real possibility. I'm kind of gotten used to the idea
in some weird way. She also ordered bloodwork for me and
I went and had a visit with the vampire lady in the lab. The
tech was so good that I didn't feel the needle at ALL! Amazing
huh? I'm getting my sugars checked as well as my iron levels
thyroid..kidneys...and something else..ANYways I feel taken
care of and am curious about what they find out!
Oh! I forgot. My doctor did this sensory test with me
where I'm to look directly at her nose while she flashes
her fingers on either side of my head and asks me how
many she's hold up. I FAILED miserabley! I could NOT
tell how many she was holding up and found she was going
waaaay too fast for my brain to keep up. She gave me a sympathic
smile so now I'm thinking I have major brain damage and of course
an analyizing every memory slip and 'senior' moment I've had since
last year, lol. I'm going to get a shirt made up with a saying I have on
Facebook- Can't brain today....I have the dumb. Hee Hee Hee
I love that!
Soooo. News on the family front.
I was checking the kid's email account
and discovered an IM and an email from
my sister and my sister's boyfriend.
The IM(which he didn't get cause he's grounded)
said that they miss us and love us and blah blah blah.
Funny.. They weren't feeling this 2 years ago when they
couldn't be bothered to drive an hour to visit the kids and
family they claim to looove sooo much, among other things.
The email just asked how the kid was and that was that.
Now my first instinct was to iggnore both of them but, then
I thought perhaps this is my sisters way of breaking the ice
to try and make ammends with us. I love my sister and would
have her in my life, even though doing so would be problematic
what with my mother and all but WHATEVER,I thought just get
the kid to respond to the email and see what happens.
He did...and I think it was my mother acting as my brother in
law, responding back! Why do I think this?? Well number one
when I opened the email a major chill went up my spine. My
wonderful intuition telling me to pay attention...and so I did.
The email is written in exactly the style as my mother, right down
to common words and phrases she's always used with Devon. Also,
the punctuation was PERFECT. My mother is a real stickler for that.
My sisters boyfriend writes like a normal person and is not and, my
sister was once mistaken for an ESL student after she took an english
test as part of a college entrance exam so I'm pretty sure it's not
her. Weird, huh? I'm not sure how I'm going to respond but I suspect
there will be more goings on like this in the future.
There's nothing really that my mother can do to me,except cause
me stress and really? I'm the one in charge of how I react so I don't
think too much is going to come out of this. It all makes for a good
story anyhow;)

I just spent
reading and wanted to share with my
hubby.
Of course I could not remember:
A.The title
B.The author
ARGGGGG!! Lucky me though, after searching through
the handy dandy library catalogue I found it on page
575, looking and sounding nothing like I'd pictured
of course. Perhaps that's why it was SO hard to find....???!!!
Ugh,remind me to write these things down!
For those who are wondering, the book is called:
Deep Survival:Who lives,Who Dies and Why.
By Laurence Gonzales
It's so much more than a survival book. The author goes
in depth into what makes up a survivor and some of the very
strange but true reasons why normal, intelligent people do
stupid things that end in their deaths. For all you fellow
brain pickers out there, this is an EXCELLENT read.
Not doing too much at the moment. Just ate dinner,
Chicken Taco Rice.
I took 3 half chicken breasts,in cubes,browned them in no-fat
spray. Sprinkled them in salt and pepper, chili powder
and cumin. Set them aside, sauted one onion, some garlic,
4 ribs of celery,a red pepper, some frozen corn,a can of
drained, diced tomatoes. Cook this all up,then add two cups
of cooked rice, mix then rectify the seasonings and voila, dinner!
It made enough to feed the four of us and there's enough left
for me to have lunch twice. Not bad,eh? The original recipe
called for salsa, sour cream and cheese but I'm not going there
until I lose some more weight. I'm sure it would have been good
that way but my way was tasty too,so it's not essential.
The time change is killing me. It feels like bedtime but it's only
7 something. I may just end up going soon anyways. I'm reading
a book but it's not holding my attention,I'm knitting but my wrists
are sore, there's nothing on TV..whine whine whine. May be a cup
of tea will cure what ails me! Have a great night!

Healed
It hit me on Friday and turned me into a
whiney snively baby for the weekend.
I've been sucking back the Buckely's
(*shudder*) and sipping Hot Toddies
(Yum,made with Crown Royal) just
waiting for the stupid thing to run it's
course. I haven't been sick in ages but,
(and I can say this now that I'm almost
healed) this one wasn't as bad as some
I've had. I can't really complain!
Last week sometime, the actual day escapes me,
my elderly neighbor came by,banging his brace
on my porch asking for help. His wife had fallen
and he needed me to help her up. I took one look
at her and decided to call 911 instead. Would you
believe the phone rang 10 times before the dispatcher
picked up?? Aren't they supposed to pick up by 3
rings?? I almost hung up so I could dial them again!
Once I got through everything went well and, they
took her away. She's got a broken hip but, she's
recovering nicely from her trip south(to a bigger hospital)
and the surgery so we're all optimistic that she'll be allright.
She's 83!! An age that just amazes me. She's in ok shape
otherwise. Sure she has memory problems and suffers
from black outs but she gets on good, able to go for daily
walks and still drives(!) and does regular daily life things.
Her husband is a great old guy and I have a bit of a crush
on him. Ciari and I are walking their dog for them because,
he can't get out so good. He is insisting on paying Ciari, even
though we've given him heck for it countless times. She finally
said "I would do it for nothing because I like you and the dog
but I'll take your money because it's not polite to argue" lol to
which he said he feels good paying her because he can't do it
himself. I guess they have an understanding now and I get where
he's coming from but still...does she need five dollars for 2 -30
min walks a day? No,I don't think so either but I'm keeping
my mouth shut.
Oooooh guess what I've started??? Christmas shopping!
I picked up the kids main pressies and a couple of stocking
stuffers from the dollar store. Now I just have to find the
time to wrap them up without arousing suspicion. They have
no clue, hehehehehe but, if I go into my room ,shut the door
then YELL at them to stay out, that might give it away so I
have to wait til they're both out of the house. It makes me
nervous to have them in the house,unwrapped..darn snooping
kids!

The Girlfriend Experiment
Long story short,it was discovered shortly after the fact
that there had been some "experimenting" going on(my
idiot child made mention of it in an IM conversation, fully
knowing that I READ them!) so I investigated further, had
the other mother investigate further and in the end
decided that if one's child needs to supervised while with
the opposite sex every SECOND that they are together, that
if one can't even go to the BATHROOM without fear of said
child engaging in innapropriate sexual behavior then
that said child is NOT ready for a boy/girl relationship!
Strangely enough the girl's mother DISAGREES! ????
I know! Our exchanges were all very polite and civil
but I felt there was an underlying tone to her emails
that was not needed nor appreciated. I get the feeling
she thinks I'm over-reacting and that she feels the need
to 'teach' me something about raising kids because, you
know she's raised 6 of them. While I appreciate and respect
her knowledge and experience......I don't need a lesson
thankyouverymuch! So I told her so,nicely and politely of
course. You'd never know it from reading this blog but,
I can be articulate, with big words and everything!
I fricking HATE it when people get all superior and lordy
over you but, hide it behind kindness and desire to help
or impart knowledge. It's self-serving and I said as much.
She disagreed of course but hey, if I'm the one feeling it,
that's my reality!
ANYways,I was proud of the way I handled all things with
her, I was proud of the way I handled the situation with
the kids and I was proud of the way I looked within and
decided that my kid is not dating until he's 18,with a
possible review of the matter when he's 16. He understands
though that this doesn't mean he'll be able to. It'll depend
on a lot of things..
Of course I've had a couple of days to think this all over.
When I first discovered what was going on I was LIVID!
I get that it's normal for kids to experiment and that they
just are not thinking right when hormones are involved but
I(and may be this was a stupid belief) trusted that my son
would respect us enough to keep it in check and would not
need my eyes on him every second of their time together!
It's like when your kids are two and near water. All it
takes is two seconds while you're distracted for an accident
to happen. We watched them like hawks and STILL they
managed to slip through and get some action.
Horny little asses!
All is well that ends well at any rate. My kid is grounded
from the computer and a bunch of stuff for a looong time.
I'm taking away other priviledges and requirring him to
really watch his step around us. I am n ot putting up with
any bullshit.
(Actually Cece,I've put him on restriction. Hee Hee,thank you
for the inspiration! )He's not being punished for the act itself
but, for breaking and disrespecting our trust as well and lying
about it. If he'd come clean about it and "manned up" I would
have been much softer on him.
And of course he is no longer has a 'girlfriend'.
Who by the way threw him to the wolves so to speak as soon as
her mother confronted her about this, saying that she was going
to "break up with him anyways because she felt betrayed and
humiliated". WHO KNOWS what THAT is all about and frankly
who cares. They are both idiots.
Lesson lived,lesson learned,right?
He asked me to let him try, promised
he'd be responsible and obviously
wasn't so he's paying the price.

level of kids these days(old fogie alert!) I am close to 200lbs,
am OLD and am able to walk faster and longer than those

I may leave him locked up at home(alone, sorry girlfriend!)
while the girl child and I enjoy a nice dinner in town and a
night of fun at a normal pace! Geesh!
Ciari as a butterfly. I copied the makeup from a site online.
I'm proud of the way it turned out! An artist I'm NOT!
