of great joy.
I was supposed to have blogged about
how I bought tickets to go see Fleetwood
Mac in Vancouver and, how I was taking
CiarĂ¡n and, how we were going to grab
a hotel and enjoy a girl's weekend.
But when the only available tickets
were the ones that cost $199.oo PER
TICKET, I said " Fuck that shit!" and
that was the end of that. I refuse to pay
that much for a concert and not just
because it would take me a while to
pay off my credit card but because
I have PRINCIPLES damnit!
*mutter mutter mutter,$199.00 a ticket"
Remember when concert tickets cost
twenty bucks?
Aww well,we'll just enjoy our own
concert right here on my blog, for
FREE.
Something good did happen over the
weekend though! The husband and I
went out for dinner, alone, just the two
of us. It was sooo relaxing. And the food!
Ooooh,I'm dreaming of the food still.
We even made a game of things by creating
a rule that we had to try something we'd
never had before. Sooo we tried Mussels.
They were good! Every one tasted slightly
different and I was surprised to find some
of them tasted sweet! Our mussels came
in a creamy chipotle sauce and tasted
spicy and of the sea...which made me
homesick of course,lol.
I have exercise and cleaning and schooling
to do so for now I bid you Adieu!

Brrrr
It's cold and I'm whiny!
BUT I'm going out for dinner
tonight,WITHOUT my children
so it can't all be bad:)
But first I must write a grocery
list, and get items on said list.
And then I need to go the
library. Better get a move on!

I am thankful for a new day
because yesterday was Rough.
I received the heartbreaking news
that a young friend of ours had died.
We had met him,his mum and brother
when Jiggy was in pre-school. When
we moved,we lost touch but I never
stopped thinking about them. I found
his mum, online as a blogger just a short
while ago. He was 364 days older than
Ciari. His Mum said he died peacefully
in the arms of his parents.
He was loved by all.He was one of those
kids who's soul just shines through..
So while I'm thankful for the new day,
I can't help but feel guilty that I even
have that privilege. I cannot imagine
the pain his mum and dad feel. They
are such good people,great parents,
an inspiration on how to live life fully.
With that in mind, I'm not going to
waste time thinking about what's fair
or right in this world.(It should be noted
for the record that I don't think the death
of a child is fair, damnit!)I'm going to wipe
my eyes, get dressed and live this day in
honour of a great kid and a loving family.
May your Friday be equally full and enriched.

Better buy some Beano!
The other night I made the best soup.
Even my lame-ass fifteen year old son
said it was good. This is a child who
LIKES canned veggies above all others
....I KNOW!
Want the recipe? Here ya go!
White Bean & Spinach Soup
2 tsp oil-I used non-fat cooking spray
1 onion,chopped
2 cloves garlic-minced
a pinch of red pepper flakes-or to your
taste.
2 cups cooked white beans
5 cups chicken or veggie broth
1/2 cup small pasta shape-shells,stars
wheels,whatever.
3/4 cup spinach-chopped-next time I
planned to use more.
1 tomato-seeded and chopped
salt and pepper to taste
chopped fresh parsley
Saute onion, garlic and red pepper flakes
til soft.
Add beans & stock. Bring to boil, reduce
heat,cover and simmer ten min.
Puree soup, return to heat add pasta, cook
five-ten min,til tender. Soup will thicken.
Add spinach,wilt.
Add tomato, season with s&p,add stock or
water to loosen up if needed, serve with
fresh parsley. Yum,yum,eat!

Monday Stuff
My day is off to a good start.
I got up before seven to go for a walk
with my man. WOW,was it ever brisk!
I was warm except for my face, which
was burning with cold, brrrr. It was
-12C when we left. Needless to say we
cut our walk shorter than usual.
WIMPS,heh. It was still enough to get
my heart pumping though.
Something else that got my heart pumping
(ha,I actually typed humping!) my husband
has a date with the surgeon for the end of
this month. The procedure? Vasectomy!
I actually get tingles when I think of this.
I think getting a vasectomy is a pretty
sexy(is this word even in common usage
anymore?) thing, for a man to do for his
wife,himself and his love life.
What else is going on...hmmm...I'm starting
to get all the plans in order for the Relay for
Life, both on the Coast and here. The boy child
and I are either going to squeeze ourselves onto
another team here (captained by our former
neighbor, who has breast cancer:( ) or if we can't/
don't do that, I'm going to volunteer. I'm also
commited to being on my friend's team, down
south. So my life will be Relay rich!
I'll love ya and leave ya with a photo of
one of my daily visitors.

I tell you,I was shocked,SHOCKED that the photo I came up
with was a photo of a cat.
This is Cornelius,my three year old anniversary present, three
seconds after I'd put my tray of begonias in the windows. I
believe I'd taken this photo for a blog entry..ANYway,his big
joy was to lie in the dirt and mess up my tubers. By the time
I got them sprouted they were covered in silky orange cat hair!
Oh that Corn.
I'm going to tag:

I'm married to
an old man!
Ok,fine. He's not THAT old but he has the cholesterol
levels of an old guy, according to some recent blood
tests. His good cholesterol was under 100 and his
bad is well over 300. You could blame it on his
trucker lifestyle but I think it's mostly genetic. His
dad has had heart attack after heart attack for years
without knowing about them(he's one of those jackasses
who refuse to go to the doctor) and finally had the big
one 5 years back. Well, not THE big one,as he's still
alive, but big enough to force him to seek medical
attention. ANYway, there is now a lot of healthy eating
going on at my house, which is always a good thing..I
guess,if you like that sort of thing.
I MISS SALT!

2008
was pretty mild for me.
For one thing nobody tried to sue
me for custody of my kids, heh, and
nobody waged a hate campaign
against us for any number of reasons.
(we're not Christian,we report child
abuse,we don't pretend to be nice
just to get along with people we'd
rather not have anything to do with!)
I didn't make as many dog friends this
year. Although I did manage to get
the big husky/wolf dog back to his
owner down the street and I did rescue
a man hating,Lael loving dog from the
highway. I tells ya..it's too bad I have
a husband and son because that dog
would have been a perfect companion!
Ok,so what did happen???
I spent the winter outdoors,going
for walks in all kinds of weather.
During the nicer days,I managed
two sometimes three walks/runs
a day!
I ran a 5km fun run after a month of
half assed training,finishing and not
coming in last.
I ran a 10km race after a couple of
months of even more half assed training
(the 5km did me in!) and finished that,
without coming in last.
I participated with an old friend on
her Relay for Life team. That was
really fun and rewarding.
I went to Alberta on a family vacation
where I climbed to the top of a mountain.
(after a helpful tram ride up most of the
way,heh)
I went to our favourite lake for than once
and even stayed swimming while watching
a storm slide by,a couple of kms away..
I think that's about it...the noteable stuff anyway.
What do I wish for 2009?
Hmmmm,I'm not sure. I don't
have any pressing desires this time
around. Sure, there are things I'd like
to accomplish,things I should have
done a loong time ago but other
than that,I don't really have anything
on my list so to speak. Lucky me!
I think I'm going to work on being
open to new experiences this year
and I'm going to try and get out in
my community more.

Happy New Year!
OK,so I'm a wee bit late!
My man had the ick on Boxing Day.
I was sure I was going to be sick but
when Tuesday rolled around and I
wasn't, I'm afraid I got cocky. Only to
be shot down the next morning with
my own case of the ick! Serves me right.
As a result our New Year's Eve was
waay lamer than usual. I think the kids
stayed up and watched tv..so at least
someone had fun!
The kids are back to school this morning
so I'm up early. I've been awake since 3:14
 I tried to go back to sleep but when
that great event didn't occur by 4:30,I
decided to get up and here I am!
I've already had my coffee, eaten breakfast
and, done my gut exercises...all before 7am.
I should do this more often.
Allllrighty then,I'm off to return emails before
the kids get up. Happy Monday!
